Go up two size. My husband is a fairly medium sized man 5'11, 190lbs, and the XL was still too small. He was able to wear it but just not button it. According to the size chart we need a large because he is a size 44 coat, but not so. I went up to a XL because of the previous post, but should have gone up one more size. However, the coat was of good quality and I will definitely buy again. My husband loved it and so did everyone else.
