The material is stiff but it's supposed to be that way. It's made to last in rough conditions. My husband works in a construction trade and needs something that's more durable and rugged and will stand up to certain conditions. He hasn't worn it to work yet but so far we're happy with the fit, the thickness, and everything else. I will update in the future if necessary.
